Sennheiser CX275S is the 'NOKIA 3310' of headsets. A 2+ year review.
I have owned this headset for more than 2 years. Music and podcast playback is much better than smartphone-bundled or cheaper retail headsets out there. The boosted lows for this little headset are spectacular. The microphone picks up the voice well in a noisy environment and is one of the reasons why more than 90% of my phone calls for the past couple of years were made using it.Sennheiser CX275S was my daily go-to headset and started showing signs of wearing out well into the second year of use. This is about 2-3 times longer than usual considering I have used it for hours daily (including wearing it under a motorcycle helmet). I was out of the country when it finally broke and I contacted the local Sennheiser warranty department since it had 1 month of warranty left. After I filled in an quick online form and sent in my worn-out headset, Sennheiser sent me a new one for free!Summary: This is an excellent headset for podcasts, music and phone calls. The microphone works well in noisy environments. Its durability combined with excellent warranty service from Sennheiser makes it an outstanding value for money.

Excellent smartphone companions
I'm sure a pure audiophile could pick fault, but to me these sound deep and clear. Really good sound and good blocking of outside noises. The in line microphone works perfectly on my Samsung Galaxy S3, my wife's iPhone 5 and my LG G Pad 8.3, so the claim that these are universal seems fair. The cable is symmetric, has a straight plug, and most importantly, is resistant to tangling.Wouldn't be a problem wearing these for a long flight. Much more comfortable than my old Dr Dre Beats. In short, these are the perfect headphones for someone who enjoys bass or clear vocals and wants/needs to use the microphone. If you're looking for an upgrade or replacement to the headphones that come with your phone, get these.

Awesome, but a little too bassy for me!
I always had Sennheisers but when the last four pairs broke after 6 months of use each, I got irritated and mistakingly went for a different brand. I tried the Jays a-Jays One Plus, besides only one side working out of packaging which came right after jostling with the plug, they sounded like a terrible flat munge or sound compared the beautiful smooth definition of Sennheiser I was so accustom to and so they went straight back. I the order these CX275s'. The CX275s' have huge bass, a bit too much for me but at least it is smooth with definition. The highs are crisp and clear for me, but could be a little brighter but that could get irritating if a tad over threshold of liking. The cables seem worryingly thinner than previous, so let's hope I still have a working pair after 6 months.

3 years very durable even in tough environment - Worth every penny.
I brought this headphones 3 years ago after owning dozens of headphones cheap & expensive every one of them wear out or breaks and I absolute had enough of it and went on a buying spree of headphones until I fell on these pairs... 3 years and it still works and never disappointed me.And overtime I stopped being careful and stopped worrying about breaking another pair of headphones, because of its durability.Worth every penny - I just hoped I got this much earlier - and am lucky that I didn't ignore this and carry on a spending spree trying to find a good durable headphone.

My favourite headphones in a long time
So far so good.Pros:Sound is excellent. (compared to earbuds from Sony, Apple, Samsung, JVC, Panasonic, Beats, and my Sennheiser over-ear headphones, these are noticeably better)Very comfortable which was unexpected because they look like normal headphones. Just seem to fit my ears a bit better.Play/pause, answer/hang-up button is usefulCons: The microphone is terrible. Everyone I was skyping with/ calling complained about the noise. I decided to test it out by having someone call me using these headphones. You know how some microphones have noise cancellation? These headphones have NOISE AMPLIFICATION, you could hear a ****ing pin drop if it happened in the background. I honestly don't know how they did it. You could scratch your ass and the person on the other end would complain about the rustling sounds. Also, no next track controls or volume control. So having bought them because I needed a headset microphone, they didn't fill my needs. That said though, the sound is just divine, still a good buy at ~£25... definitely do not buy them full price. Will update this review if and when they break.

Wouldn't pay more than a tenner for this sound profile
I'm not a massive audiophile but have listened through a solid selection of reasonably priced earbuds through the years including sennheisers, shures, brainwavz and even some monoprice ones. I mostly listen to house, soul, disco and some indie. I got these at a seeming price error at £11.90 (yes they're real, sold via amazon and authenitc as per the authentication sticker) and even at that price I'm not such a great fan. Bass is loud and boomy but not particularly nuanced; I listen to a lot of bass heavy music but find these overpowering. Highs seem tinny and artificial and cut through too harshly. The most disappointing bit of these are that mids sound muddy as hell, with awful definition for the price, especially given the overpowered bass and artificially tinny highs, making my soul music selections sound mostly awful. Mic seems alright but very thin cables make me wary of longevity. Are small and fit comfy though. If you can stand the uncomfortable design, I'd recommend the £5 monoprice ones for sound quality over these. Two stars if only for the fact I got them for a little over a tenner. If I had bought these for the current £43, would surely be one star.
